Grandparenting has changed. Parenting has changed. Age has changed

These days, it is grandparents, as well as parents, who are juggling their lives!

Becoming a grandparent brings with it unparalleled joys and rewards.

I am filled with gratitude that I am enjoying the opportunity to be grandmother, as I am aware it is a privilege not everyone experiences.

But it also brings with it unprecedented feelings and dilemmas. More than ever grandparents are being called upon to care for their grandchildren due to high housing and childcare costs.

But what if we live too far away, or are working, or have other demands on our time?

New pressures on parents, mean there are new pressures on grandparents too.

Very little has been written about this new reality.

The New Grandparenting aims to fill that gap.

In these weekly newsletters I aim to provide a companion for grandparents, recording with honesty not only the joys, but more pertinently the conflicts and conundrums we face as our children begin to have children.

‘I can relate to this so much on every level. It has actually eased some of my guilt at feeling ‘feelings’

I also look at scientific and psychological research into one of the most enriching but ignored relationships we are likely to encounter as we get older.

‘Love this…so honest and helpful.’
